This course is for anyone who holds a current* (unexpired) certification as an occupational hearing conservationist (COHC), awarded by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). Attendees who successfully complete the 8-hour course will earn recertification, qualifying the COHC to conduct audiometric testing, including manual audiometry, in hearing conservation programs covered by the OSHA Noise Exposure Standard (§29 CFR 1910.95) and the MSHA Occupational Noise Exposure Standard (§30 CFR Part 62).
*Students whose certification will expire prior to the course may petition CAOHC for a 60-day extension at least 30 days prior to the expiration date.

- achieve a passing score on the CAOHC standardized exam at the conclusion of the course.
Courses are limited to eight students to create an informal atmosphere that promotes greater interaction and involvement and allows students to receive more personalized attention. Separate certification (20-hour) and recertification (8-hour) courses are specifically tailored to the content domains and tasks covered in the CAOHC standardized exam for each population and allow more in-depth treatment of course content that is relevant to the needs of all students in the course.
Students will receive a copy of the new CAOHC Hearing Conservation Manual 5th edition (a $90 value) approximately one month in advance of the course (by mail, upon paid registration) to allow time to become familiar with the material prior to the course. The course will make extensive the Manual as a means of successfully preparing students for the CAOHC-provided standardized exam, which is given at the conclusion of the course.
