We strive to offer high-quality courses designed to optimize your learning experience. We want you to stay comfortable and focused so that you can get the most out of your time with our experienced and knowledgeable instructors.
Our highly accomplished faculty team of seasoned NASA hearing conservation professionals brings broad and comprehensive discipline expertise in audiology and noise control engineering and an extensive history of co-teaching highly-acclaimed seminars and courses. Beth Cooper and Dick Danielson also share extensive “in the trenches” NASA experience and served together on CAOHC for several years, developing much of the curriculum content for CAOHC’s certification programs.
Courses are limited to eight students to create an informal atmosphere that promotes greater interaction and involvement and allows students to receive more personalized attention from the faculty. Courses are taught seminar-style around a conference table to promote exchange and sharing among attendees.
Certification and recertification courses are conducted separately to maximize the relevance and benefit of the course content and the interchange among students and faculty.
The content of certification and recertification courses is closely tailored to the specific areas that are covered in CAOHC’s standardized exam for each population. Offering separate courses helps ensure that all students are well prepared to successfully pass the exam at the conclusion of the each course. (The fee ($75) for the CAOHC standardized exam is included in the course registration.)
Each attendee receives a copy of the new CAOHC Hearing Conservation Manual 5th edition ($90 value) in advance of the course (by mail, upon paid registration) to allow time to become familiar with the material prior to the course. Presentation of information in certification and recertification courses is based on this text, which is the accepted source from which CAOHC’s standardized exam questions were created.
Attendees earn continuing education contact hours or points in their professional discipline by attending the certification or recertification course.
